Sankyo Launches RichLink Medical Content Service

TOKYO, Japan, January 14, 2003 -- Leading pharmaceutical manufacturer Sankyo together with Silicon Valley software developer Sentius Corporation today announced that Sankyo has launched the Sentius' RichLink Medical Content Service.™ The RichLink platform will enhance point-of-care communication for medical professionals on Sankyo's extranet site.

The RichLink Medical Content Service combines publishers' data with a unique, patented way to deliver content through Web application usability technology. Sankyo uses the RichLink Medical Content Service to merge clinical diabetes information from Reuters Health News with Japanese medical glossaries. Sankyo says Sentius' software will provide substantially improved delivery of critical information to medical professionals.

"By providing RichLink-enabled Reuters Health diabetes information, we expect to increase our readership and to develop a more meaningful relationship with the medical community and its patients," said Sankyo Managing Director Toshiaki Takamatsu. "RichLink keeps readers engaged on our Web site, improves their comprehension, and gives them a more rewarding online experience."

For example, when an endocrinologist clicks on an unfamiliar diabetes term on the Sankyo Web site, a Japanese language annotation instantly appears. The doctor won't have to to leave the Web page she is on. RichLink 4.0 makes it possible for Japanese healthcare professionals to get information in their native language when and where they want it. Sentius' research has shown that delivering Web-based information in this way can improve successful navigation by at least 33%

"When it comes to syndicating our content, RichLink is a powerful product which makes it easier for our sales staff to sell our data and increase revenue," said Reuters Health CEO, Dan McKillan. "RichLink is a valuable technology that gives our customers easier and more intuitive access to our medical data."

Reuters Health News supplies worldwide wires that are written specifically for health care professionals. The health news wire service is available for over 80 different vertical medical specialties. "The superior quality of Reuters Health News combined with RichLink will keep Sankyo's customers coming back to the site for more," said Sentius CEO Marc Bookman.
